A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has been detailed by MP1st. The information, reportedly sourced from an anonymous developer's portfolio, reveals a significant departure from a simple remaster.
The project promises a complete reimagining of Oblivion, encompassing overhauled mechanics. These include substantial changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (drawing inspiration from Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The damage calculation system has been reworked for more realistic impact visuals, and the stamina system is expected to be more intuitive. The UI and archery mechanics will also see modernizations.
MP1st suggests the project's scope evolved from an initial plan for a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents) to a full-scale remake.
While sources confirmed the Oblivion remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, speculation points towards a potential release within the year.
