Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute play sessions. He stated that this timeframe doesn't allow sufficient opportunity for players to leave or read messages.
This change is noteworthy given the prominent role of player messages in enhancing the experience of past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It promises a fresh adventure with distinct challenges and encounters, while preserving the signature atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
