The highly anticipated single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, has been delayed by three months, moving its release date from May 30 to August 29, 2025, according to an announcement from developer Ultizero Games. Originally slated for launch next month after nearly a decade in development, the PC and PlayStation 5 title will now see a later release to allow for additional polishing.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. What began as a solo endeavor has now become a major Sony-published title under the company's China Hero Project. Yang Bing, who now serves as the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his vision expand into a much-anticipated release.
In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing discussed the long journey to launch. From its humble beginnings to a high-profile reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, the game's development has captured the attention of the gaming community. The excitement around Lost Soul Aside stems from its unique blend of Final Fantasy-esque characters and Devil May Cry-style combat, which was evident from the moment Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
The game features the protagonist Kesar, who wields a versatile, shape-shifting weapon that allows players to switch playstyles. Additionally, Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to assist in battles. Lost Soul Aside emphasizes aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, all set within the context of large-scale boss fights. The game's narrative, blending sci-fi elements with contemporary aesthetics, takes players across multiple dimensions. Although the story's full arc remains somewhat mysterious based on the trailers, Yang Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
