Dune: Awakening developer Funcom has acknowledged they're actively addressing player concerns regarding the Deep Desert experience, including problematic respawn mechanics.
While Funcom previously confirmed fixes for the controversial helicopter PvP instakills - which remain a major pain point - chief creative officer Joel Bylos personally responded to Reddit discussions to confirm ongoing improvements. "We're implementing several changes and fixes for these issues. Your patience is appreciated," Bylos stated.
Bylos was replying to rustypipe7889's detailed critique of Deep Desert PvP mechanics, particularly criticizing the instant respawn system that negates victory advantages ("winning prolonged battles becomes meaningless when defeated players immediately respawn nearby").
Additional player feedback highlights endgame content gaps in Dune: Awakening, though these haven't received direct developer responses yet. Redditor Darqsat expressed frustration: "Endgame content is completely disorganized. The Deep Desert offers zero incentive for PvE players - it's just become a playground for hardcore PvP enthusiasts."
They continued: "PvE progression abruptly ends at T5 with Duraluminum. Players either experiment with builds/base-building or quit entirely. There's no compelling PvE content - no epic quests, exclusive vehicle components, or unique base parts to pursue."
These criticisms emerge alongside impressive player statistics, with the survival MMO peaking at 189,333 concurrent players recently. Since its June 10 launch, Dune: Awakening has maintained a 'Very Positive' Steam rating while achieving over 142,000 concurrent players.
