The LG Evo OLED TV has been our top PlayStation TV for three consecutive years, thanks to its exceptional picture quality, minimal input lag, and high refresh rate. Although the C4 is last year's model, we still recommend it over the newer 2025 C5, primarily because the C5 costs $500 to $1,000 more without offering significant upgrades to justify the higher price.

The C4 is the 2024 version of LG’s mid-range C-series OLED lineup. Compared to non-OLED TVs, OLED technology delivers superior picture quality, near-perfect black levels, incredible contrast, and extremely fast response times. These advantages make the Evo OLED TV an ideal choice for experiencing 4K HDR content exactly as intended. The C4 uses LG's proprietary Evo panel, providing brighter images and improved contrast compared to traditional W-OLED TVs (similar to the QD-OLED panels found in Samsung TVs). LG remains a leading brand because its OLED TVs have evolved over many years, incorporating refinements and enhancements through numerous generations.

The LG C4 also delivers outstanding performance for gaming. Its native 120Hz display can be boosted to 144Hz, and all four HDMI 2.1 ports support 4K gaming at up to 120fps on a PS5 or Xbox Series X without screen tearing. It also includes support for variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM). Installation is simpler than earlier models, as the rear cabinet is made of a lightweight composite fiber material, weighing only 36 pounds.

How does the 2024 C4 compare to the 2025 C5?

LG recently introduced its 2025 C5 OLED TV. It improves on the C4 with an upgraded Alpha a9 Gen8 processor and enhanced peak brightness—the latter being the more noticeable improvement. The higher brightness means the C5 can achieve slightly better contrast, a broader color range, improved glare and reflection control, and greater visibility in brightly lit rooms. That said, these improvements do not justify the current price premium.
