Nvidia unveiled the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti in April 2025, and now the budget-friendly GPU has officially launched following its Computex reveal.
Priced at $299 MSRP, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 features 3,840 CUDA cores across 30 Streaming Multiprocessors – delivering solid 1080p gaming performance. Nvidia promises impressive capabilities at this resolution, boasting 223 fps in Doom: The Dark Ages at max settings (with 4x multi-frame generation enabled).
The flagship feature of this generation remains Multi-Frame Generation technology. While the RTX 5060 is the most accessible option in the lineup, it fully supports DLSS 4's advanced features – though its 30 SM design imposes inherent performance limitations.
Note that $299 represents just the entry point. While some models will hit this price, many RTX 5060 variants will command higher premiums, typically offering factory overclocking and RGB lighting enhancements.
Reviews Are Coming... Later
Despite its attractive pricing (if the MSRP holds), we recommend waiting for performance benchmarks before purchasing. Nvidia's impressive claims rely heavily on Multi-Frame Generation – real-world testing will reveal its raw capabilities.
Reviewers face an unusual delay this time. Unlike recent launches (including the RTX 5090), Nvidia isn't providing early drivers to media, meaning comprehensive reviews won't surface during the GPU's initial week of availability. While the RTX 5060 should excel at 1080p, previous Blackwell models have shown modest generational improvements.
The RTX 5060 might mirror the RTX 5070's performance leap over its predecessor – especially in traditional gaming scenarios without frame generation. When questioned about RTX 4060 comparisons, Nvidia claimed up to 2x performance with frame generation enabled, but only ~20% gains in non-RT/non-FG titles (likely representing optimal conditions).
As with any premium tech purchase, we strongly advise awaiting independent reviews to verify value. While evaluations are forthcoming, expect a brief waiting period.
