Overwatch 2's grand relaunch in China brings thrilling opportunities for players to collect missed rewards from past seasons and explore new Chinese mythology-themed cosmetics. The Chinese gaming community will officially reunite in Future Earth on February 19, coinciding with the debut of Season 15.
Following its recent announcement, Overwatch 2 will fully relaunch in China on February 19. The January 8-15 technical test allowed players to experience content they'd missed, including Overwatch: Classic and six new heroes released since the game's previous shutdown during Season 2.
With the technical test complete, Overwatch 2 has unveiled exciting plans for Chinese players. Game director Aaron Keller shared on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) that a multi-week celebration will feature popular past events and rewards. Chinese players can unlock Seasons 1-2 Battle Pass content pre-launch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards available through special events post-relaunch.
Chinese Mythology Takes Center Stage in Season 15
Keller confirmed Season 15 will showcase Chinese mythology-inspired skin bundles. While details remain scarce, speculation continues about whether these will be brand-new designs, China-exclusive items, or part of a broader seasonal theme - similar to Season 14's Norse mythology collection.
The global community won't wait long for answers. Season 15 launches February 18, just before China's official relaunch. Expect full reveals in early February, giving players worldwide a month to prepare for the new season.
Before Season 15 arrives, players can enjoy the Min 1, Max 3 6v6 test (January 21-February 4) and classic 2-2-2 gameplay. The Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events will also run pre-Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these events, they'll soon have exclusive celebrations to anticipate.
