Honkai Star Rail 3.2 to Introduce Changes to Banner System for More Player Freedom

Honkai: Star Rail's gacha system is getting a major overhaul, giving players more control over their character pulls. Leaks suggest version 3.2 will introduce a customizable pity system for limited banners, marking a significant shift in how players interact with the game's gacha mechanics.

According to leaks from Sakura Haven, the 3.2 update will let you personalize your 50/50 pity pool. Instead of the standard 7 characters, you'll choose your preferred characters from a larger selection. This means you can partially or fully replace the default pool, significantly increasing your agency in determining your rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. Version 3.2 replaces this with a customizable "Group." You'll select 7 characters from this expanded group to form your personalized 50/50 pity pool. Losing the 50/50 will then reward you with a character from *your* custom pool, rather than the default selection.

This initial "Group" will include the 7 standard characters plus a selection of additional characters. This change directly addresses a major frustration in gacha games: the unpredictability of losing pity pulls. By prioritizing desired characters, players gain a better chance of acquiring units that fit their playstyle.

While details remain scarce regarding which characters will be selectable—past limited characters, current banner units, or entirely new ones—the potential impact is huge. This customizable pity system represents miHoYo's commitment to improving player experience and responsiveness to community feedback. It could set a new standard for gacha game design.
