At Droid Gamers, we test countless gadgets, but a projector was an unexpected addition. The Formovie Episode One projector intrigued us with its ability to stream mobile games on a larger screen – making it a compelling device to review.
An Affordable Projector That Delivers
Positioned as a budget-friendly alternative (since projectors are typically pricey), the Episode One lives up to that promise—and then some. Though not without flaws.
Inside the box, you'll find the projector, remote (batteries not included), power cable, and manual. It has a sturdy feel without being overly heavy, unlike pricier competitors.
Its lightweight design (just three pounds) actually enhances portability—we could easily take it anywhere.
Ports & Connectivity
Some may find connectivity options limited, with just one USB-A port, one HDMI input, and an audio jack. But for its price point, these should suffice for most users.
Performance & Brightness
For the cost, the Episode One performs respectably with 150 ISO lumens. It's not the brightest laser projector available, but it holds its own.
Bright sunlight proved challenging during testing, but dimly lit or dark environments yielded strong results—as expected.
Movies and TV shows displayed crisply, and game streaming worked smoothly. Optimal image quality required positioning the projector at least 10 feet away.
Sound & Setup
The built-in speaker delivers passable audio, though lacking depth—pairing with an external speaker is highly recommended.
Where it shines is user interface simplicity. Setup is intuitive, outperforming many complicated high-end alternatives.
Final Verdict
The Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. While not groundbreaking, it's reliable and fulfills casual users' needs effortlessly.
