NetEase Games unveiled their captivating new life sim, Floatopia, at Gamescom. Expected to launch on multiple platforms, including Android, sometime in 2025, Floatopia presents a whimsical world of floating islands and unique characters. The game's trailer depicts a charming setting where players can cultivate crops, engage in cloud fishing, and personalize their airborne island home.
A Unique Apocalypse
The game begins with a world-ending event, but fear not! This apocalypse is more akin to "My Time at Portia" than "Fallout." The world is fractured, existing as islands in the sky, inhabited by humans with diverse, and sometimes underwhelming, superpowers. Players discover that seemingly insignificant abilities can hold surprising potential.
Island Life and Adventure
As the Island Manager, players will enjoy familiar tasks reminiscent of "Animal Crossing" and "Stardew Valley." Farming, fishing, and home decoration are central activities. However, the floating island setting adds an element of adventure, allowing travel to exotic locations and interactions with new characters.
Socialization and Exploration
Floatopia offers ample opportunities for socializing, whether through shared adventures, island parties, or simply showing off your meticulously crafted paradise.
