Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 faces another postponement, now scheduled for October 2025 release.
This relatively minor delay follows years of schedule adjustments, announced discreetly during Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room's recent game update video. While extending beyond the previously targeted first-half 2025 window, the update confirms completion of core development.
"The game is currently content-complete," stated Executive Producer Marco Behrmann. "Our focus has shifted to polish – eliminating bugs, improving stability, and optimizing performance to ensure the best possible experience at launch."
While disappointing for fans familiar with the project's tumultuous history, the brief update highlighted positive developments. The Chinese Room revealed expanded content, deeper narrative elements, and enhanced character development since their last major showcase. They specifically teased protagonist Fabien's "evolved role" in the storyline. However, despite regular developer diaries keeping players informed, official channels indicated forthcoming updates would become less frequent.
The sequel's troubled development spans nearly a decade. Originally announced in 2019 by Hardsuit Labs with planned Q1 2020 release, the game immediately faced delay to late 2020 – merely the first of many setbacks. Summer 2020 brought another postponement to 2021, followed by further delays and Hardsuit Labs' departure in March 2021. After years in limbo, Paradox appointed Still Wakes the Deep developer The Chinese Room in 2023, targeting 2024 release before this latest adjustment.
While uncertainty remains whether this sequel to the 2004 cult classic will finally materialize, The Chinese Room expresses confidence in their progress. Paradox has hinted that if Bloodlines 2 succeeds, development of Bloodlines 3 would be handled by another studio, suggesting potential franchise continuation.
