Transformers: Unseen Gameplay Leaks Reveal Cancelled

Cancelled Transformers Game: Leaked Gameplay Footage Surfaces

Recently cancelled by Splash Damage, gameplay footage of the co-op Transformers: Reactivate has re-emerged online. Announced in 2022, this Hasbro collaboration promised a multiplayer experience featuring Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons uniting against an alien threat to Earth.

Despite the 2022 announcement at The Game Awards, little official gameplay was shown. Leaks and a few related action figures were the only glimpses fans received before the cancellation announcement. Splash Damage cited a shift in focus to other projects, hinting at potential staff reductions.

Following the cancellation, leaked footage from a 2020 build surfaced. The clip showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and utilizing various weapons. The style strongly resembles Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but pits Bumblebee against "the Legion," an alien force serving as the game's primary antagonists.

Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Footage Analysis

Despite some unfinished textures, the leaked footage displays a polished game, incorporating environmental destruction as Bumblebee progresses. A silent cutscene concludes the clip, showing Bumblebee emerging from a portal near the ruins of New York City, communicating with an ally named Devin about the Legion's attacks.

Numerous other leaks from 2020, predating the official announcement and subsequent cancellation, exist. Although Transformers: Reactivate will remain unplayed, the leaked footage offers a look at Splash Damage's ambitious, yet ultimately unsuccessful, multiplayer Transformers project.
