Sun Wukong Soars onto Nintendo Switch

The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on the success of popular titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend isn't just drawing inspiration; it's raising concerns about the direct appropriation of elements from Game Science's acclaimed hit. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot summary strongly resemble a direct copy.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. The blatant similarities raise the possibility of a copyright infringement lawsuit from Game Science, potentially leading to its removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world teeming with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, breathtaking locations, and legendary enemies.”

This closely mirrors the premise of Black Myth: Wukong, an epic adventure rooted in Chinese mythology. The unexpected popularity of this RPG from a small Chinese studio, even topping Steam charts, is remarkable. Black Myth: Wukong boasts exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat (incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre). Its combat system and progression are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides, while still demanding strategic thinking. Visually, the battles are stunning, thanks to fluid animations.

The game's greatest strengths lie in its setting and visual design. It immerses players in a captivating fantasy world, with breathtaking character design and stunning environments. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards.
