SoMoGa Drops A Revamped Version Of 16-Bit Classic JRPG Vay On Android

SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, an updated interface, and controller support.

Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay was previously re-released by SoMoGa on iOS in 2008.

What's New in the Revamped Vay?

This updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is the adjustable difficulty levels. The addition of auto-saving is a welcome improvement, and Bluetooth controller support offers flexible gameplay options. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.

The Story:

Set in a distant galaxy, the game unfolds in the aftermath of a millennia-long interstellar war. A malfunctioning colossal war machine crashed into the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction. Vay casts you on a quest to rescue your abducted wife and potentially save the world. Your wedding day is interrupted by an attack, leading you on an epic journey to confront the destructive war machines.

Vay's narrative is engaging, blending classic JRPG elements with modern enhancements. The experience retains its JRPG roots, with character progression driven by random encounters yielding experience and gold. The game boasts nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options.

Download the premium version of Vay for $5.99 on the Google Play Store. Explore our other gaming news, including the Loving Reveries update for Tears of Themis.
