Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin and Launched

Author : Jacob Update:May 24,2025

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While it shares many similarities with the earlier-released Galaxy S25 from 2025, the new model's thinner design is what sets it apart, giving it an edge in the market.

Spec-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both models utilize the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a high-resolution 200MP camera. The most notable difference lies in the chassis, which has been slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm in thickness, compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner design also makes the phone lighter, weighing in at just 163g.

Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25, even though it shares nearly identical specs with the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and expansive build, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday mishaps like being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops. Will it be enough to avoid a new "bendgate" scenario?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with the same suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Galaxy S24 last year and further refined in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset allows for substantial AI processing to be done locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications still rely on cloud computing. Samsung offers unique features like summarizing notifications and news articles, which can be quite handy for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with prices starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB variant. The phone is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen to emphasize the durability of this sleek device. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.
