For completionists playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, the Promo Card section is usually a satisfyingly short list to complete. However, the mysterious Promo Card 008 is currently causing frustration for many players.
The Appearance of Promo Card 008
The unobtainable Promo Card 008 appeared in the Promo – A Card Dex around January 2025, creating a noticeable gap between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009). While its number suggests it's been in the game's code longer, it wasn't previously visible as a blank slot. This newfound visibility has left players eager for information on how to acquire it.

Uncovering Promo Card 008
Although currently unobtainable, the card's appearance can be glimpsed. Accessing the "Related Cards" section for cards like Red Card (006) or Pokedex (004) reveals a greyed-out version of Promo Card 008. This alternate art Pokedex features Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle surrounding the Pokedex itself.
The card's information page confirms its unowned status and notes it will be "obtained from a campaign," similar to the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026). This differs from cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting a promotional giveaway is likely.
The exact timing and method of acquiring Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain unknown, but hopefully, it will be available soon. In the meantime, players bothered by the empty slot can disable the display of unowned cards in the game's settings.
