As we move past the peak of the week, major announcements are mostly behind us. So, as we wait for more updates to come through, it's time to take a look at some items that may have gone unnoticed. Particularly the announcement that Level Infinite (Tencent's publishing division) has entered into an agreement with developer Shift Up.

The partnership involves a new cross-platform game known by the code name Project Spirits. Longtime mobile fans will recognize Shift Up from Goddess of Victory: Nikke, while console players may be familiar with their first title on that platform, Stellar Blade.

At this point, we don't have much information about Project Spirits. We do know it is set to launch on mobile, console, and PC and will run on Unreal 5 (a trend becoming more common among mobile developers). Most notably, this will be a co-developed project between Tencent and Shift Up through their affiliate, Yongxing Interactive.

Are there any spirits present?

The obvious assumption here is that this will be a multiplayer ARPG. While Winds Meet and Once Human come from Tencent's competitor, NetEase, their approach of a high-fidelity release aiming to integrate platforms into one ecosystem could serve as a good estimate. It also makes sense for Shift Up to share development responsibilities, considering they are currently working on Goddess of Victory: Nikke (tier list available here) and the sequel to Stellar Blade.

The key visual provided may offer some clues. In addition to the usual artistic style of Shift Up, it prominently displays two characters. Could this indicate co-op gameplay? Or is it simply a selection from a larger cast? We'll have to wait and see.
