Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE Leagues, detailing how to initiate events, understand mechanics, utilize the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, conquer the Pinnacle boss, and maximize rewards from the Tribute and Favour system.

Understanding Rituals and Altars

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Entering a Ritual map spawns several Altars, each with a shared random modifier impacting enemy types and mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools). Interact with an Altar to trigger a wave of enemies. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without rewards. Completing all Altars in a map marks it as complete.

Conquering the Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists

Obtaining "An Audience With The King," a unique Ritual currency, unlocks a fight with The King in the Mists, located within The Crux Of Nothingness. Use the Realmgate on the Atlas map to access this encounter.

The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart (found in Act 1, Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone). Victory rewards two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas map, enhances Ritual events. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists grants two skill points, mandating increased difficulty with each new Notable node.

Notable Node Prioritization:

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Then, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for valuable Omens and "An Audience With The King."

Maximizing Rewards: Tribute, Favours, and Omens

Completing Rituals earns Tribute, used to purchase randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier rewards (Rare gear, high-level currencies). "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omens are powerful, consumable items enhancing other currencies. Examples include Omens of Annulment (targeted modifier removal) and Alchemy (specific modifier addition). Omens are highly sought after for crafting or trading. Enemies also drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Unique items.
