NetherRealm Studios unveils gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion, alongside the surprise announcement of Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter.
The T-1000 showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, utilizing its shape-shifting abilities and signature weaponry. Its moveset incorporates elements similar to Baraka and Kabal, culminating in a liquid metal transformation and powerful uppercut attack, echoing Glacius from Killer Instinct. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides voice and likeness for the character, featured in a showdown with Johnny Cage. A brutal Fatality recreates the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.
Madam Bo, a popular character from Mortal Kombat 1's main story, joins the roster as a Kameo fighter. Brief gameplay glimpses show her assisting the T-1000.
The T-1000 becomes available March 18th for early access (Khaos Reigns owners), with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo launches March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or a standalone purchase.
The addition of the T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC, sparking speculation about future content. While Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise remains strong, the possibility of a third Kombat Pack or additional DLC remains unconfirmed. NetherRealm's next project is yet to be announced, though many anticipate a return to the Injustice series. Ed Boon previously stated that the studio's next game was planned three years ago and that Mortal Kombat 1 will receive long-term support. He cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 as factors influencing the decision to develop another Mortal Kombat title before returning to Injustice. Boon confirmed that the Injustice franchise is not abandoned.
