All the major summer game reveals are now in the open, giving us a clearer look at the titles we’ll be playing over the next year. During IGN’s Summer of Gaming, we witnessed countless thrilling announcements—from the debut of Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest (coming this February!) to the massive Clockwork Revolution trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase (launching… whenever it’s ready).
Over the past few weeks, more than a dozen showcases delivered something for every type of gamer. Cozy gaming fans found their next obsession in Wholesome Direct’s trailers, lovers of grimdark worlds got hyped by Warhammer Skulls, and first-party loyalists were treated to deep dives from PlayStation’s State of Play and the Xbox Games Showcase. Now that all the reveals are out, it’s time for the real challenge: ranking the biggest announcements.
We’ve picked the 25 most significant games of the season, based on trailer views, page traffic, social buzz, and staff enthusiasm, and placed them into a Tier List. Where each game lands on that list is entirely up to you. S rank goes to the most exciting titles, D rank is for those that seem to offer little promise, and everything else falls somewhere in between.
Many of these 25 games are strong S-rank contenders. Resident Evil Requiem delivered the most-watched trailer of the season, and our hands-on preview confirms it’s a title to keep on your radar. Then there’s Invincible VS, which looks like a brilliant tag-team fighter and a faithful adaptation of the beloved comics. And what about 007 First Light, with its cinematic debut trailer—will the Bond movie magic translate into compelling gameplay?
Some reveals are harder to place. After years of anticipation, we finally saw Capcom’s Pragmata—but does it live up to the hype? The Silent Hill remake was announced, though we’ve yet to see a single frame of gameplay. Still, it’s being developed by Bloober Team, whose Silent Hill 2 remake was nothing short of phenomenal. And then there’s Keeper, Double Fine’s long-awaited return—a sentient lighthouse simulator whose debut trailer kept a few cards close to the chest. Where will all these games—and others—end up on the list? That’s your call to make.
