Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game development studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its upcoming FPS game, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The announcement included a plea for employment opportunities for its team members.
The studio, comprised of Beahm along with Call of Duty and Halo veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, aimed to deliver a free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter, Deadrop, set in a retro-futuristic "80s never ended" universe. Concept art showcased characters in Daft Punk-esque helmets wielding firearms and melee weapons. While initially targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop ultimately failed to launch.
Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from Midnight Society in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages sent to a minor via Twitch Whispers, development continued on Deadrop until its recent termination.
