Marvel Reign Supreme on Disney+: Ranking the Immersive Series

Author : Zoe Update:Feb 20,2025

Marvel's small-screen adaptations have a rich history, from the classic "Incredible Hulk" to the Netflix series featuring Daredevil and Luke Cage. While previous attempts to integrate live-action TV shows into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had mixed results, Marvel Studios launched a new era in 2021 with interconnected Disney+ series. With the recent addition of "Spider-Man: Freshman Year," we're revisiting the twelve preceding Disney+ Marvel shows.

This ranking aggregates the opinions of IGN's Marvel experts:

Disney+ Marvel TV Show Ranking

  1. Secret Invasion

Disney+
Widely considered the weakest entry, "Secret Invasion" fell short of expectations. Despite its source material's significance in Marvel Comics, the series lacked a cohesive vision, hampered by slow pacing, a questionable opening sequence, and questionable character choices. Its attempt to emulate "Captain America: The Winter Soldier's" espionage tone proved unsuccessful.

  1. Echo

Disney+
A significant improvement over "Secret Invasion," "Echo" follows Maya Lopez's return to her reservation. While a shortened episode count left some viewers wanting more, the series boasts impressive action sequences and a groundbreaking representation of Indigenous creatives. Its emotional depth and unique perspective make it a worthwhile addition to the MCU.

  1. Moon Knight

Disney+
Starring Oscar Isaac, "Moon Knight" explores Marc Spector's multiple personalities. Its surrealist blend of genres and strong supporting cast, including May Calamawy as Scarlet Scarab, couldn't elevate it higher in the rankings.

  1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney+
Featuring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, this series, while benefiting from the actors' chemistry, suffered from a muddled moral compass and a focus on espionage over action. Production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic may have also impacted its overall quality. Despite this, its narrative elements remain crucial to the current MCU.
