Silent Hill 2 Remake hits 2M sales, Konami celebrates

Konami celebrates Silent Hill 2 Remake's incredible milestone after surpassing 2 million copies sold.

The Bloober Team-developed remake launched October 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam (with no current announcements regarding Xbox Series X/S versions), achieving 1 million sales within its first few days - potentially making it the fastest-selling Silent Hill title to date, though Konami hasn't officially confirmed this record.

"Since release, Silent Hill 2 has earned widespread critical acclaim including multiple perfect scores and award nominations, solidifying its status as a timeless masterpiece in horror gaming," Konami stated.

IGN's Silent Hill 2 Remake review awarded it an 8/10, praising it as "an excellent way to experience - or rediscover - one of survival horror's most terrifying destinations."

The remake's commercial success likely strengthens Konami's renewed commitment to the franchise. While Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall remain in development, the publisher may pursue additional remakes of classic titles. A Silent Hill 2 film adaptation is also underway.

The PC version has become a playground for creative modders, with alterations ranging from removing character hair shine and the iconic fog to transforming the setting into "Sunny Hills."
