Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay features and characters. While the game boasts a roster of 23 4-star characters, many haven't maintained their relevance in the meta. However, some remain valuable in specific team compositions, particularly with higher Eidolon levels. Past updates (Versions 2.1 and 2.7) offered similar free selectors, aiding players in strengthening their 4-star units.
The leak, originating from prominent leaker HomDGCat, specifies the four selectable characters: Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony). Interestingly, all are from the 1.0 cycle, with Asta even being an early-game acquisition. This aligns with earlier rumors suggesting a focus on 5-star character releases in the near future, potentially indicating a slowdown in new 4-star additions. The disparity is significant, with almost 40 5-star characters compared to 23 4-star units. Eight more 5-star characters are anticipated with the Amphoreus update, with a potential addition of two more via the Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover.
The 2.0 cycle only introduced four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). If the leak proves accurate, future 4-star selectors might face a shortage of newer units. Despite this, Version 3.0's highly anticipated additions of The Herta and Aglaea, along with recently released redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials, offer players much to look forward to.
