Contrary to initial impressions, the Hoverboard is available from the game's outset.

Summoning Your Hoverboard

Activating the Hoverboard is simple: hold down the Dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward and automatically mount the Hoverboard, provided you maintain the Dodge input. Releasing the Dodge button dismounts you. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if your Energy depletes. Your current Energy level is displayed near your Breaker's companion. Remember to dismount briefly to replenish your Energy before it runs out unexpectedly.
