The iconic Master Chief, the face (albeit a helmeted one) of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this comeback wasn't without its controversy.
Initially, a special Matte Black style, previously exclusive to Xbox Series S|X players, was slated for removal. This announcement, contradicting earlier assurances of its ongoing availability, sparked considerable backlash.
Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit. However, Epic Games quickly reversed course within 24 hours, reinstating the Matte Black style for all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.
This reversal appears to be the wisest move, particularly given the festive holiday season. Spoiling the Christmas cheer with such a contentious decision would likely have been counterproductive.
