Dune: Awakening has recently concluded its open beta weekend, during which fans unearthed a significant exploit that allows players to keep their enemies in a perpetual stun state. Dive deeper into this PvP-disrupting bug and find out what steps Funcom is taking to address it before the game's launch.
Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit
The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered fans a glimpse into the first 20-25 hours of gameplay, along with various other features. During the Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, players stumbled upon a critical exploit that enables them to stun their opponents indefinitely in PvP scenarios.
The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player executes repeated quick knife attacks on an enemy who has depleted their stamina. The targeted player becomes unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, resulting in a continuous stagger state.
This issue gained widespread attention after being showcased during the livestreams of popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud, highlighting the severity of the exploit.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch
During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers directly observed the stunlock exploit and promptly acknowledged the bug. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured fans that the issue would be resolved before the game's official release.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta weekend now concluded, the developers have received ample praise and valuable feedback essential for optimizing the game ahead of its imminent launch.
Dune: Awakening is slated for release on June 10, 2025, for PC, with versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to follow at a yet-to-be-announced date. Keep up with the latest updates on the game by checking out our related article below!
