After extensive testing, we’ve successfully navigated all three Arata stages in GHOUL://RE. These stages don’t demand advanced gaming skills or excessive exploration, but they require significant Reputation grinding—prepare for a serious grind!
Arata Stage 1 in GHOUL://RE
Start by earning 25,000 Reputation points and reaching the Special Investigator rank in the C.C.G. organization. Then, head to the Commission of Counter Ghoul (C.C.G. center) and speak with Damiro D. Mado, the NPC with headphones on the second floor. He’ll assign you the Arata Stage 1 quest: collect 10 one-eyed fragments and 10 Kokuja fragments.

The quickest way to gather fragments is by defeating bosses like Eto and Tatara, shown below, and crafting fragments at the workstation. To check your Reputation, visit Saiyo Natsuki, the NPC in a black suit and tie. Once you’ve secured all 20 fragments, convert them into five one-eyed Kokuja fragments at the workstation. Struggling with bosses? Refer to our GHOUL://RE boss and raid guide to boost your skills.

Return to Damiro, who will direct you to speak with “him.” This caused confusion in the GHOUL://RE community, but “he” is none other than the Black Reaper of Doom And Despair, hiding in plain sight.

Arata Stage 2 in GHOUL://RE
For Arata Stages 2 and 3, you must play in permadeath mode to unlock the legendary armor. We recommend teaming up with reliable allies, as solo missions can be tough.
After amassing 100,000 Reputation points, head to the elevator in the C.C.G. building and go to the Laboratory. Speak with the scalpel-wielding NPC in a black suit, Black Reaper of Doom And Despair, near the door.

Hand over five one-eyed Kokuja fragments and maintain 100,000 Reputation to complete Stage 2 and unlock Arata-Proto armor. Rumors suggest 75,000 Reputation might suffice, but we confirmed 100,000 ensures success.
Some players report needing 90,000 to 100,000 Reputation, but for guaranteed results, aim for 100,000 Reputation points.
Play Stages 2 and 3 on PD servers only, or the Black Reaper will block progress, preventing completion of Stage 2 and access to Stage 3.

The final stage involves “The Scalpel Guy,” fragments, and a hefty sum. You must remain in PD mode to pursue the epic armor.
Collect a single one-eyed Kakuja fragment and 500,000 Yen, then visit Black Reaper of Doom And Despair in the C.C.G. building. Pay him, and he’ll teleport you to the Kishou Arima boss.
Defeating Kishou Arima requires decent skills—expect to jump, dodge, block, and deal heavy damage. With practice, even average players can triumph.

Expect potential deaths during this fight, so stock up on resources. Each retry requires another one-eyed Kakuja fragment and 500,000 Yen.
Defeat Kishou Arima to unlock Stage 3 Arata-Proto armor. While it offers powerful buffs, it significantly impacts your character’s health, as detailed below.
Arata Armor Strategies
Arata-Proto Armor Buffs
Arata armor is formidable but rapidly drains hunger while worn. You can’t eat in Arata, so you’ll need to remove it to restore hunger levels.
The armor’s benefits are substantial: you’re immune to ragdolling, a major advantage across all game scenarios.

Arata boosts your equipment, making your character exceptionally durable and capable of dealing massive damage. If hunger depletes, the armor consumes your health bar. Remove it during risky fights, especially against bosses, to recover safely.
Reputation Grinding
To quickly amass Reputation, fight bosses in PD mode for 1,500 Reputation per kill, far better than the 500 earned outside PD. Killing Ghouls yields only 100 Reputation per kill, making it less efficient for Arata quests.
