Bringing the Community's Top Request to the Game

Firaxis Games has confirmed they are developing the community's most requested feature: the ability to lead one civilization continuously through history. In a development update on October 27, 2025, the team outlined upcoming changes planned for the game.
Creative Director Ed Beach explained the team is playtesting systems that let players select a civilization in any Age and guide its development seamlessly. To ensure this feature meets player expectations, Firaxis is launching the "Firaxis Feature Workshop."

This initiative aims to gather direct, crucial feedback from the player community. A select group of fans will be invited to test in-development features and provide detailed reports on what functions well, what needs improvement, and what elements are lacking.
Further details about the workshop will be announced on the game's official Discord server. Beach also mentioned that updates will become less frequent during the holiday season as the team focuses on testing these significant forthcoming changes.
Tides of Power Collection Available Free Starting November 4

Alongside the new features in development, Firaxis Games announced a sea-themed Content Collection named Tides of Power. This collection will be offered free of charge from November 4, 2025, until January 5, 2026.
The Tides of Power collection will launch in two phases. The first phase arrives with the November 4 update, introducing the new leader Edward Teach and two civilizations: Tonga and the Republic of Pirates. The second phase follows in December, adding leader Sayyida al Hurra, along with the Ottomans and Iceland civilizations.

Furthermore, update 1.3.0 will overhaul the game's naval warfare. Key additions include The Harbor, a new maritime warehouse building; The Privateer, a new Light Naval Unit described as the "ultimate naval raider"; a naval combat rework; and new resources and terrain types.
These updates are scheduled for the week of November 3. Firaxis Games also encouraged players to continue sharing their feedback to help drive further improvements.
