- The Battle of Polytopia surpasses 25 million mobile downloads
- World Championship tournament is now underway
- Substantial prize pool available for competitors
This month marks a major milestone for The Battle of Polytopia. The minimalist 4X strategy game from Midjiwan has officially passed 25 million downloads on mobile—an impressive achievement for a title that grew primarily through player recommendations rather than aggressive monetization. This is quite an accomplishment for a project that began as a unique indie experiment set in a square, conquerable world.
A key factor in this success is Polytopia's player-friendly approach. The game remains free-to-play, fair, and continually updated. With weekly challenges and new cosmetic additions like the Aquarion and Elyrion tribe skins, Midjiwan keeps the experience fresh while preserving the straightforward, charming appeal that makes its territory-capturing gameplay so enjoyable.
Now, the studio is rewarding its community on an even larger scale with The Battle of Polytopia World Championship. This first official global tournament runs throughout October and November, with six finalists securing a spot at the live grand finals in Stockholm this December.

Matches will be played in the Might mode, featuring best-of-three, single-elimination rounds designed to test pure tactical skill. A significant prize pool is at stake, including a $4,000 top prize. Participation is free and open to anyone aged 18 or older.
You can register through the Polytopia Official Space on Challengermode or directly in-game via Multiplayer > Tournaments. For a deeper look at the event, check out our dedicated tournament article.
