Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Details Leak on Steam
A Steam leak has prematurely revealed details about "Claws of Awaji," the first DLC for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the franchise's first foray into East Asia, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a samurai, and Naoe, a shinobi. The game's development has been turbulent, facing criticism and multiple delays, most recently to March 20, 2025.
The leaked Steam update, since removed, detailed "Claws of Awaji's" additions: a new region to explore, a fresh weapon type, expanded skill sets, new gear, and enhanced abilities. The DLC is estimated to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
This leak follows Ubisoft's recent announcement of another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first pushed to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, citing the need for further polishing.
The delays and the leak come at a time of uncertainty for Ubisoft, with rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition swirling. This follows a period of underperformance for several major Ubisoft titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws.
