• Hide Mode: The player to the dealer's right selects a card and places it face down on the table, which then becomes the trump suit for that round.

• Cut Mode: If no trump suit is chosen, play begins normally. If a player cannot follow suit, the card they play becomes the trump for the deal.

Once the trump suit is established, the highest trump card played in a trick wins it. If no trump is played, the highest card of the led suit takes the trick. The winner of each trick leads the next one, and all captured tricks are kept in a face-down pile by the trick's winner.

A key element of victory in Mindi is capturing the tens. If a partnership manages to secure three or four of the tens, they win the hand. Capturing all four tens is known as a Mendicot, a highly coveted achievement.
