Button Mapper: Remap your keys

Button Mapper is a powerful tool that allows you to customize your device's hardware buttons, transforming them into shortcuts for any app, action, or command you desire. With Button Mapper, you can effortlessly remap your volume buttons and other hardware keys to perform a variety of functions with a single press, double tap, or long press, enhancing your device's usability to fit your unique needs.

This versatile app supports remapping of most physical or capacitive buttons, including volume buttons, certain assist buttons, and capacitive home, back, and recent apps keys. It's not just limited to your phone—Button Mapper also works with many gamepads, remotes, and other peripheral devices, making it a comprehensive solution for all your remapping needs.

No root is required for most functionalities, though some advanced features might need an adb command from a connected PC if your device isn't rooted. Keep in mind that Button Mapper won't function when your screen is off unless your device is rooted or you've executed an adb command.

If you encounter issues, make sure the Button Mapper accessibility service is enabled and allowed to run in the background. Note that Button Mapper does not work with onscreen buttons (such as soft keys or the navigation bar) or the power button. The options available in the app depend on the buttons present on your phone, so not all phones will have home, back, and recents buttons.

Button Mapper uses Accessibility services to detect when physical or capacitive buttons are pressed, allowing them to be remapped to custom actions. Rest assured, it does not collect or share any personal information, prioritizing your privacy and security.

The app also uses the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) to lock the screen if the "Turn screen off" action is selected. To remove this permission, open Button Mapper, click on the menu (three dots in the upper right corner), and select "Uninstall."
