Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) are fascinating variations of the classic Bridge card game.

As the third evolutionary stage in the bridge family, Auction Bridge & International Bridge (IB) originated from straight bridge (also known as bridge whist). These games served as predecessors to modern contract bridge, built upon earlier foundations laid by whist and bridge whist.

Auction Bridge & IB feature distinct scoring systems for tricks, bonuses, and penalties that differ significantly from contract bridge. Notably, these variations don't incorporate the concept of vulnerability found in contract bridge.

Trump selection follows similar principles, though contract bridge involves more complex trump declaration rules. Gameplay and regulations remain largely comparable to contract bridge.

The dealer initiates trump selection and must declare intent to win at least the odd trick in a trump suit or No-trumps. Higher bids are determined by point value rather than trick count (excluding doubles). For instance, 3 Spades (27 points) outranks 4 Clubs (24 points).

Scoring for tricks beyond six:

Notrumps: 10 points

Spades: 9 points

Hearts: 8 points

Diamonds: 7 points

Clubs: 6 points

Game completion requires 30 points
