As a dedicated PC gamer who's been lured away from the allure of Steam sales by the occasional big-name game, I never thought Xbox Game Pass would catch my eye—until now. The unexpected drop of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos directly onto Game Pass was a surprise, albeit not entirely secret. And then, just as I was soaking in the nostalgia, the announcement came that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the visually stunning debut from Sandfall Interactive, inspired by JRPG classics, would join the service tomorrow. As a die-hard RPG fan, I must confess, Microsoft, you've won me over.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – 1 Month Membership – Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Cloud Gaming Devices [Digital Code]
$19.99 at Amazon
On April 22, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was revealed and released across PC, consoles, and Game Pass. I, like many others, spent the day downloading and the night immersing myself in its beautifully remastered soundtrack. The game boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and revamped visual effects. Despite adding over five new voice actors, Virtuos wisely retained the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of this remaster is priced at $49.99, which includes the original DLCs, while a deluxe edition is available for an additional $10.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the much-anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch at 12am PST tonight in the U.S. It's already scoring high with a 92 on Metacritic, and IGN's 9/10 review lauds its narrative design, calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish UI echoes the Persona series, and the early gameplay footage showcases one of the most innovative turn-based combat systems I've witnessed. It's priced at $49.99 for the base edition, matching the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
While Expedition 33 was positioned as the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a bit of a shadow over its launch. From my perspective, though, it's a win-win situation. Instead of shelling out $100 for two new games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only challenge is finding time to step away from my screen.
Game Pass has recently expanded its library with some of 2025's most anticipated titles, including Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside perennial favorites like GTA V and the full Call of Duty series. There truly is something for everyone on this service.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $19.99/month, offering access to the entire Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only version is available for $9.99/month, while the Standard and Core tiers cost $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, though they do not include day-one releases. The last price increase was in July 2024, and given these recent game launches, another hike could be on the horizon.
Currently, there are no live deals for Game Pass, but securing a three-month subscription could shield you from potential future price increases.
