In the vibrant world of Monster Hunter Wilds, exciting interactions await, offering diverse rewards. This guide helps you unlock the coveted Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy/achievement. While not crucial to the main storyline, fishing provides a delightful diversion and its own unique questline, ultimately equipping you for this challenge.
First, complete Kanya's fishing quests:
- Seeking the Goldenfish: Catch a Goldenfish in cave pools (Area 6, Scarlet Forest, using Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow bait; Fallow weather increases spawn chances).
- Fishing for Favor: Catch a Gravid Bowfin in the Scarlet Forest base camp during "Plenty" weather using the Emerald Jitterbait.
- The Catch of a Lifetime!: Catch any large fish requiring the reeling minigame (a Tuna in Area 17, Scarlet Forest, is a good option).
After completing these, Kanya requests you undertake the Razzle Dazzle quest, leading to the Monster (Squid) Hunter trophy/achievement:
Go to Area 17, Scarlet Forest. Ensure "Downpour" weather (use the grill or camp to adjust). Wade into the deep lake until you can go no further. Spot the squids (if none appear, fast travel and return). Equip the Tentacle Jig and fish. While the quest requires a Grand Escunite, the trophy/achievement is for catching a Goliath Squid (look for blue-glowing shells). Reel in the squid during the minigame. Once ashore, you'll unlock the trophy/achievement.
