Umamusume: Pretty Derby Arrives Globally on Steam

The horse girl racing simulation Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping toward its worldwide English release. Developer CyGames confirmed via Twitter/X on April 27 that the game will debut on June 26, 2025, with pre-registrations opening April 28.

Originally launched exclusively in Japan on February 24, 2021 for iOS, Android and PC, the game presents a unique concept where legendary racehorses are reincarnated as "horse girls" (Umamusume) - high school girls with equine ears, tails, speed and stamina. These characters train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, striving to become both champion racers and pop idols.

According to the Steam page, players can "recruit talented trainees and supporters while experiencing an immersive sports-life simulation featuring deep training mechanics and high-quality 3D graphics." The game boasts a gacha system with over 20 unique horse girls to collect, train, and compete with in races and dazzling performances.

Industry reports show the Japanese version surpassed $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its 2021 launch year alone. CyGames aims to replicate this success globally with the English version release.
