The fire surrounding the rumors of a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake is burning brighter than ever, with Singapore's rating board dropping a significant hint. They've rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release, igniting excitement among fans. This anticipated remake, encompassing the third and fourth entries in the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, is poised to launch across a diverse array of platforms. According to the ratings board, players can expect it on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While there's no official word from Activision just yet, the buzz is intensifying. A countdown timer discovered within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is teasing some Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news, set to culminate on March 4, 2025. This has fans eagerly awaiting what could be the big reveal.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Tony Hawk himself shared during an appearance on Mythical Kitchen that he's been in discussions with Activision again. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk teased, hinting at a project that's close to completion. This comes on the heels of the critically acclaimed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake from 2020, which set a high bar for what fans can expect from the franchise's remakes.
Originally, the plan was to follow up the success of 1+2 with remakes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4. However, things took a turn when the original developer, Vicarious Visions, was integrated into Blizzard in 2021 to focus on Blizzard's projects. Tony Hawk revealed in a 2022 Twitch livestream that Activision struggled to find a suitable replacement, as they were hesitant to trust any other studio with the project the way they trusted Vicarious Visions. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk explained. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer, the mystery of who is behind the potential remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remains. As the countdown to March 4, 2025, ticks away, fans are on the edge of their seats, waiting to uncover more details about this highly anticipated project.
