The anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 is reaching a fever pitch as its release in 2025 draws near. Fans are eagerly awaiting what the next generation of this beloved handheld console will bring. Some keen observers have already caught a glimpse of the final design, sparking excitement and speculation.
Nintendo Switch 2 Features The New C Button
Functionality Will Be Revealed During the Direct
The long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, and with a Nintendo Direct scheduled for today, April 2nd, fans are buzzing with excitement. However, Nintendo may have already given us a sneak peek of what to expect from the Switch 2 before the Direct. The company recently launched a new smartphone app called Nintendo Today, designed to deliver the latest news and game information directly to players. Observant fans noticed that the app's promotional images on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store included a mention of "Get updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics and more every day."
A closer look at one of these images reveals what appears to be the final design of the Nintendo Switch 2. This includes the newly designed Joy-Cons and the mysterious C button on the right Joy-Con. When the initial Switch 2 teaser was released in January, the button located beneath the Home button was simply a black square, leaving fans to wonder if it was a new social feature or a sensor. Thanks to the final design showcased in the Nintendo Today app, it's now confirmed to be a C button. The exact functionality of this button, however, is expected to be unveiled during today's Nintendo Direct.
