Supermarket Together: A Deep Dive into Self-Checkout Terminals

In Supermarket Together, managing your store efficiently is key to success. While teamwork makes the dream work, solo players often face challenges, especially in later game stages on higher difficulty settings. Even with hired employees, keeping everything running smoothly can be a struggle. This is where self-checkout terminals become invaluable.

How to Build a Self-Checkout Terminal

Building a self-checkout is simple. Access the Builder Menu (press Tab) and locate the self-checkout option. The terminal costs $2,500. While a significant investment early on, it's a worthwhile purchase as you progress.

Is Building a Self-Checkout Worth It?

Self-checkout terminals function as expected: they alleviate pressure on staffed checkout counters, reducing customer wait times and the risk of impatient customers leaving without paying. However, there's a trade-off.

Early-game considerations: Prioritizing new products from the Franchise Board and stocking shelves might be more beneficial than immediately purchasing a self-checkout, especially if you have friends helping. Hiring employees for staffed counters is also a viable early-game strategy.

The downside: Self-checkout terminals increase the risk of shoplifting. More terminals mean a higher probability of attracting thieves. Therefore, investing in enhanced store security is crucial when utilizing self-checkout.

Late-game necessity: As the game progresses, the influx of customers, trash, and thieves intensifies. Self-checkout terminals become increasingly helpful in managing the chaos, especially for solo players. They provide a crucial buffer, allowing for better control and reducing the overall stress of late-game management.
