Stellar Blade PC Version: Latest Updates
SHIFT UP Clarifies DRM Situation
As Stellar Blade prepares for its PC launch, developer SHIFT UP has addressed questions about the implementation of Denuvo anti-tamper technology (DRM). In a May 17 post on X (formerly Twitter), they explained that the DRM has been "hard tuned to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in some cases."
DRM is used by publishers to combat piracy and prevent the unauthorized copying and distribution of games. The inclusion of Denuvo in titles has long been a contentious topic, with many reports suggesting it can impact in-game performance.

However, SHIFT UP shared internal performance test results comparing the game running with and without DRM. According to their data, key performance metrics—including average, minimum, and maximum frame rates, as well as 1% and 0.1% low framerates—remained virtually identical in both scenarios.
The studio also confirmed the game will offer full, unrestricted mod support—a common point of friction with DRM-protected games. While players have praised the transparency, many still hope Denuvo will be removed entirely to improve accessibility.
Addressing Region-Locking Concerns

Another major point of discussion is the PlayStation-related region lock affecting the PC version. Even though the game does not require a connection to the PlayStation Network (PSN), players in over 130 countries where PSN is unavailable will still be unable to access it.
SHIFT UP stated they are "closely discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our BEST to resolve most of it as soon as possible." They reassured fans that both PC and PS5 versions will offer identical content, ensuring "early buyers are never at a disadvantage through future updates."
Despite the developer's clear communication, many players would still prefer a version free of DRM and regional restrictions. Stellar Blade's PC version launches on Steam on June 11. For the latest news on the game, check our related article below.
