Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

Author : Peyton Update:Mar 24,2025

Saber Interactive, a powerhouse in the independent gaming world, has reaffirmed its commitment to all previously announced projects amidst the quiet surrounding high-profile titles like the much-anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent reveal of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to Twitter to soothe fans' concerns, stating, "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."

The spotlight inevitably shines on the KOTOR remake, a project that has been shrouded in mystery and delays since its announcement in 2021. The game has seen multiple developers take the helm, with periods of apparent inactivity followed by restarts. In April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the KOTOR project remained with Saber after its split from Embracer Group and was still actively being developed. He emphasized, "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this. It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations." Willits' recent statement, nearly a year later, echoes Karch's sentiments, yet fans have seen little beyond the initial teaser.

Saber Interactive's portfolio extends beyond KOTOR, with other exciting titles on the horizon. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for a 2025 release, although specific dates are yet to be announced. Additionally, Saber is developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. With the addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, fans have much to look forward to.
