Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players will encounter numerous NPCs during their exploration of The Zone, often leading to engaging side quests, such as "For Science!". This quest involves Skif's interaction with Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While relatively brief, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facility.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest:

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose within the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear Mongoose contact Skif via radio, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, proceed left, past the conveyor belts, and ascend the rusty stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; simply vault the railing to reach him. He'll explain the need to activate a second device and initiate the quest upon accepting his request.

Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder. Traverse the walkway to the silos, equipping your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the second measuring device.

Dealing with the Aftermath:

Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Choose between eliminating them or evading them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Choosing the peaceful option yields the Malachite Pass and some coupons. The pass allows entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
