Sega has officially announced the global release date for Sonic Rumble, providing fans with exciting details on when the game will launch and the rewards they can expect from the pre-registration campaign.

On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to reveal that Sonic Rumble will be globally available starting May 8, 2025. Accompanying this announcement was a fresh trailer showcasing new gameplay footage.

Sonic Rumble marks the first multiplayer party game in the Sonic series, allowing up to 32 players to compete across various levels and game modes. Sega describes it as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world created by the villainous Dr. Eggman, tackling treacherous obstacle courses and dangerous arenas!"

Given its free-to-play model, concerns about potential pay-to-win mechanics surfaced. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these worries during an interview with Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September. He stated, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to just buy what you want quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that gives you a certain probability of obtaining items."
