"Skyblivion: Oblivion Remake in Skyrim's Engine Aims for Release This Year"

Author : Evelyn Update:Apr 01,2025

Skyblivion, the ambitious fan-made remake of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion* within the engine of *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*, is firmly on track for a 2025 release. The dedicated team of volunteer developers behind this colossal modding project shared their progress in a recent developer update stream, reinforcing their commitment to the 2025 launch window. "We hope with your support to finish the final steps in completing our dream, maybe even beating our own estimation," they expressed, highlighting the passion and effort poured into this endeavor.

Describing Skyblivion as merely a one-to-one remake would be an understatement. The developers are not just recreating the game; they're enhancing it. From ensuring that "unique items are actually unique" to revamping existing bosses to better match their fearsome reputations, such as the notorious Mannimarco, the team is going above and beyond. They showcased the revamped "A Brush with Death" quest during their livestream, and the painted world they've crafted is nothing short of stunning.

The project's intrigue is further heightened by rumors of an official *Oblivion* remake. Earlier this year, alleged details about an *Oblivion* remake surfaced, suggesting potential changes to combat and other elements. Microsoft, however, declined to comment on these rumors to IGN. Moreover, in 2023, an *Oblivion* remaster was inadvertently mentioned in documents from the Activision Blizzard/FTC trial. While some projects like the Indiana Jones game have since been released, others, including the *Oblivion* and *Fallout 3* remasters, remain unconfirmed.

Given Bethesda's history of embracing modding communities across their titles, from the classics to the latest *Starfield*, the emergence of an official *Oblivion* remake could pose challenges for Skyblivion. The team hopes to avoid the fate of projects like *Fallout London*, which faced hurdles just before launch. As Skyblivion approaches its 2025 release, the modding community and fans alike are eagerly watching, hoping for a smooth journey to completion.
