To achieve the best ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, completing specific tasks is essential, and saving Sam is a crucial part of this journey. Here's how you can locate and rescue Sam during the "Reckoning" quest.
Rescuing Sam During “Reckoning”
As you near the conclusion of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer’s Camp, captured by Brabant. Your mission to save him unfolds during the "Reckoning" quest. Infiltrating the camp requires a strategic approach—you can either use stealth or opt for a more direct, violent method.
To navigate the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. One way to acquire this is by eliminating a guard and stealing their attire, ensuring to hide the body afterward. Alternatively, you might find an outfit by looting chests scattered throughout the camp. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can freely explore the camp in search of Sam.

Sam is located in a barn on the left side of the camp, beyond the open area with a cooking fire. To reach him, use the ladder on the side of the barn and drop down inside, where you'll confront Brabant. At this juncture, you face a pivotal choice: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Sparing him contributes to achieving the best ending, but the decision is yours.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escape with him. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, who is also within the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, before returning to Sam for the final escape. Sam can wait safely while you complete these tasks in this order, as it simplifies the process of carrying him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is found in the main part of the camp. Wearing the guard outfit allows you to enter his quarters without challenge. Upon finding him, you'll see that he's already dying. He requests a dignified death, which you can grant as the most honorable option. Alternatively, you can choose to kill him brutally or leave him to suffer a slow death. Interestingly, leaving him to die actually aids in achieving the best ending.
Once these tasks are done, return to Sam in the barn where you left him. If questioned by a guard about moving Sam, simply say you're handling a body, which will dispel any suspicion. Proceed to the camp gates, exit, and turn right to follow the perimeter.
