Equipping the Torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To equip your torch, access your inventory. First, equip a pouch. Then, select the torch and equip it. Exit the inventory. On consoles, press and hold the d-pad to activate the torch. PC players should press the R key.
A red shield icon next to the torch in your inventory confirms it's equipped. Remember, torch flames extinguish over time, so carry spares.
Note that while wielding a weapon and torch simultaneously is possible, it's limited to one-handed weapons. Two-handed weapons and shields are incompatible with torch use.
Why Use a Torch?
Beyond improved visibility in darkness, torches are mandatory in settlements and towns after nightfall. Guards will pursue and interrogate anyone seen without one, demanding a Groschen bribe or imprisonment. Locals may also be less cooperative in the dark without a lit torch.
Obtaining Torches
Torches are readily available from general merchants in towns or can be looted from fallen enemies and chests.
