Rockstar Games has unexpectedly delivered a major update for Bully: Anniversary Edition on mobile platforms. After six years of silence, the developers have rolled out meaningful improvements - though currently exclusive to Android and iOS versions.
Bullworth Academy Makes a Comeback
This anniversary update brings significant technical improvements, including new language support and crucial bug fixes. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges during this maintenance period.
Android players with compatible devices now benefit from Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) visual enhancements. Both platforms receive quality-of-life upgrades like an updated app icon and haptic feedback implementation.
The patch specifically addresses longstanding mission bugs. Players can now properly complete "That Bitch" (Mandy's locker issue) and "Weed Killer" (window-breaking sequence). The infamous police car glitches during "The Rumble" mission have also been resolved.
Combat mechanics receive attention too - enemies now engage properly with protagonist Jimmy Hopkins. The update also eliminates crashes that previously occurred during new game starts or save file loading.
Community Reactions to the Unexpected Update
While fans continue clamoring for Bully 2, Rockstar appears focused on other franchises. The sequel reportedly entered development last decade before being shelved for Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online projects.
With GTA 6 now in production and key original developers departed, hopes for a Bully sequel seem increasingly unlikely. This mobile update, while not the remaster many hoped for, offers meaningful improvements for portable players.
For newcomers, Bully represents Rockstar's unique take on schoolyard life through rebellious teenager Jimmy Hopkins. The game combines the studio's signature dark humor with open-world mischief at fictional Bullworth Academy.
The updated Bully: Anniversary Edition is currently available on Google Play for €7.99, featuring full controller support for mobile gameplay.
