At this year's DICE Summit, Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill shared his vision for the future, highlighting a highly anticipated project: a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set within the rich universe of League of Legends and Arcane.
Merrill revealed that this MMO consumes a significant portion of his time, reflecting his deep passion for the genre and his belief that this dedication is crucial to the game's potential success. He also emphasized the strong desire among League of Legends fans for a deeper, more immersive experience within their beloved universe.
While details remain scarce, including a release date, Merrill playfully suggested a launch before humanity's first Martian landing. The feasibility of this prediction, however, remains uncertain.
It's important to note that another League of Legends-universe game is in the works: 2XKO, a fighting game eagerly awaited by fans. Unlike the MMO, 2XKO boasts trailers and a projected release window—before the year's end.
