Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this Summer on PC (Steam), pits players against a Martian invasion. The core gameplay revolves around the Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create unique creature-human hybrids for defense. Think Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies! The game's mechanics draw inspiration from the classic Nintendo DS title, Advance Wars.
According to Relic, Martians have been secretly harvesting the "atomic essence" of Earth's humans and animals for decades. Now, they've launched a full-scale invasion, and it's up to Earth's resistance forces to fight back. Players will command Earth's military against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien soldiers.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, blending our signature style with elements from previous titles." He further explained Relic's new strategy: "Alongside our established RTS games, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style projects to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and increase our release frequency."
